Adorable Dogs At The Corner Café

The domestic dog is a member of the genus Canis which is part of the wolf-like canids and is the most abundant terrestrial carnivore. The dog was the first species to be domesticated and has been selectively bred for various behaviours, sensory capabilities and physical attributes. Their long association with us has led them to be uniquely attuned to human behaviour.

They vary in shape size and colour and perform many roles for humans, some of which I still find amazing. We all know about the hunting, herding, pulling sleighs etc. but now the aiding disabled people and therapeutic roles is beyond belief. They truly are a human's best friend.

I agree with that one.

Fun dog Facts

Puppies are born blind, deaf and toothless, but have heat sensors in their nose to help them find their mother. They can grow to half their mature body weight in 4-5 months. It takes about a year to grow the other half!

Greyhounds can run at up to 44mph.

The Norwegian Lundehund has six toes on each paw.

This is so true.

Most of us have owned dogs at some stage or another, and some of us are lucky enough to still do. They have a very important part of not only our lives but the lives of many people.

When deciding on a dog, you should always consider a rescue dog. The breeders do it for money and often your hear horrific reports about sickly dogs etc. Visit your local animal rescue and walk around and I dare you not to come home with at least one. So many are in these places for no fault of their own. We have always had rescue dogs and they repay you 100%.

Here are 3 of the very lucky ones, and you know them well

Badger who is 10 and a dog in a million.

Layla who is 3 and a little darling.

Taff, a 11 year old Border Collie who had had 5 homes prior to us.

All are welcome. And please feel free to recommend and share all discussions you enjoy.

There is no obligation to follow any of our informal themes. They are simply for fun. This is an open topic chat thread, so please just post or talk about anything you like!
