Carry on Camping At The Corner Café

That’s not camping - that’s just like being at home !!

Some do take everything bar the kitchen sink

Yes, camping, love it or hate it, is a very popular holiday.
Mind you, these days camping is not proper camping. I mean look at some of these tents !!

I used to go camping as a kid with the Church down to Arundel in West Sussex. It was in a field that the week before had had cows on it and we slept in bell tents about 6 to a tent. We slept on straw mattresses and had to put our own tents up when we got there, with a bit of help obviously. It was great fun, and it was portable loos and you went and got some hot water from the kitchen tent to wash in.

Ours were nowhere near as luxurious as this one, and certainly didn’t have windows or other rooms.

About right as well

My other camping holiday was with Taff, in a two-person tent. We lived in London at the time and went up Yorkshire way, can't remember where, but again in a field and it poured with rain. We had 2 dogs with us and one night, one of them opened the tent door.
I do remember we went to get some money from a Bank and called into a cafe for a cuppa. It was very busy and to our horror, we discovered we had innocently driven into where they filmed Last of the Summer Wine, which I couldn't stand. We left as soon as we could and thought some people should really get a life. We drove back via Robin Hood Country and stopped there overnight. A good holiday was had by all.

My idea of hell! Why do people want to crowd together like that?!

Nowadays, tents are very luxurious and roomy, nothing like the tents I know for camping. I certainly wouldn’t want to camp on one of the so-called campsites. All crowded together, and facilities with hot water and showers, and some have cafe's so you don't even have to cook. There is nothing like cooking on a BBQ while camping and eating it outside. It tastes so much better and sitting outside afterwards with a fire and a hot drink or a glass of wine!

Lovely to sit round after a nice meal

Camping and caravan holidays can be great fun, as can a boating holiday. They give you a chance to see the countryside and the wildlife, and to enjoy some lovely walks, and some peace and quiet, especially for those that live in towns or cities.

Ok, well let us know if you have been camping, whether you did it properly or in luxury and would you go again. All I can say is …………….

All are welcome.
And please feel free to share all discussions you enjoy.
