Christmas Down Under
We have now come to our 3rd Christmas thread, Christmas in Australia.
The decs and presents are about the same as we do, but the cards are full of native animals and Santa dressed in shorts and sandals. There are still the traditional ones, well what we class as traditional, available though and some families still carry on the old tradition of Christmas.
It is so different from ours, I'm not sure I would like it. I like snow at Christmas and Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, while they have sunshine and Christmas on the beach. Must really confuse Santa when he's delivering presents.
The younger generation have come to realise that a hot oven cooked roast dinner is not the best of things on a really hot day, so they opt for cold meat and seafood and salads, and Pavlovas or Trifle, (or both) . Not forgetting the barbie on the beach on Christmas Day.
The food looks lovely, but I’m not sure I would trade my traditional Christmas Dinner for it though. Maybe my boxing day one though!
And in place of our Christmas Pudding they have these, which I must say I would prefer even on Christmas Day, not a fan of stodgy Christmas Puds.
There are a lot more traditions etc. at Christmas time, and a lot of different food, but I didn’t want to make the thread too long. So all that is left to say is
All are welcome. And please feel free to share all discussions you enjoy.
