Deck The Halls At The Corner Café
Christmas trees were supposedly started in the 16th century by people in Germany who decorated fir trees in their homes, but it is said that a lot of ancient cultures used evergreen trees for celebrations around the winter solstice.
I love a real tree, and there are a few different ones on offer: Pine, Douglas Fir, Scot's Pine to name a few. Unfortunately, today most people, myself included, opt for the artificial tree, which looks pretty, but is not as nice as the real thing, but is less messy.
The traditional colours of decorations are pine green, snow white and heart red, but of course, nowadays they come in a vast range of colours. Some people start putting them up really early, or some at the beginning of December, but whenever you put them up, it is said they must be down by 12th night or it is bad luck.
