Dog Day at The Corner Café
This is so so true, they are certainly man's best friend.
Dogs play a big part in our lives, from pets to assistance dogs, helping the blind and disabled to the dogs that sniff out drugs, save our lives when we are lost on mountains, and work with Police and Soldiers to protect us. We therefore say thank you today to these wonderful creatures.
You could make a contribution to a rescue centre of your choice. You will have a local dog rescue centre and all you need to do is search online. Or you could fundraise for them. You just need an idea that is fun and gets people involved so that awareness can be raised and money given.
Today is National Dog Day
This day is celebrated to help the public to see the number of dogs in shelters on a yearly basis, all sorts of breeds, and for all sorts of reasons, but it doesn't make it right.
Dog day was started by Colleen Paige, who is an Animal Advocate and Pet and Family Lifestyle Expert. It simply marks the date she adopted her first Sheltie and it has been recognised all over the world.
There are several ways to celebrate it. The best would be to adopt a dog from a rescue centre, but then I am a softie.
How can anybody resist these faces?

If you don't want to do either, how about spending a bit of your spare time helping out at a rescue centre or walking the dogs for them? They would benefit from it and believe me so would you, and come on we all have a bit of spare time.
The best way by far, as I said, is to adopt a dog and your life will never be the same again.
They do break your heart and leave paw prints there, but the time spent with them is so rewarding that it is worth it, and at the end you do what is best for the dog. They are faithful, kind, true and so loyal, and love unconditionally, and so must you be!
