Happy St. George's Day
If you are English you will know what today is by the date and you will know the history of St. George, and the famous speech which ends :
"Cry God for Harry, England and St. George"
But as some of us are not English, and, there are very few pure English people around nowadays, we are going to look at the fun side of St. George and Dragons.
There are other things known as George and the Dragon nowadays, notably pubs, and who can forget the tv series called George and the Dragon, which had 26 episodes from November 1966 to October 1968 starring amongst others, Peggy Mount, Sid James and John Le Mesurier.
There are all sorts of Dragons, some are very gentle while others you wouldn’t want to argue with. Some species people keep as pets, like the Bearded Dragon. I personally don't agree with this as they need specialist care and a specific environment to survive.
As a nation, we don't celebrate this day like other places, which is a shame, so why not for once raise a glass to St. George and fly The Cross of St. George in your garden or up at your window.
Well, all I can say is Happy St. George’s Day and I hope you have fun celebrating it !!
All are welcome.
