Heroes And Villains

All stories have one or more protagonists and antagonists, and a battle between the two is often what drives the story along. But sometimes the line between the two can be blurred.
Yes, today, May the 4th, is Star Wars Day, a celebration of a classic story of good versus evil, heroes and villains of all shapes and sizes, and there is no greater villain than Darth Vader!!
Yet even he backed away from the dark side at the end!!

And there were those on the good side, of course: Luke Skywalker, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Princess Leia, and the reluctant hero, Han Solo.

And there have been many tales of heroes and villains throughout history - who doesn’t know of ye good olde Robin Hood and the wicked Sheriff of Nottingham?!

And books and other films, of course, are stuffed full of them - right back from the silent movie, moustache-wearing, tie the hapless maiden to the train tracks villains, through the animated antagonists such as Captain Hook, to the modern-day nemeses who battle with Batman, James Bond and the like as they strive to save the world. And we can’t forget the cartoon villains such as Dastardly and Muttley who forever strive to “Catch the pigeon!”!!
Yet, often the hero can have a little of a villain inside as well and vice versa. Things are not usually so black and white, exactly as in real life. No one is completely good or completely bad - we are all a mixture of personality traits!!
So, sometimes if you find yourself cheering on the villain rather than the hero - that’s OK. I often find myself siding with poor Tom when Jerry is giving him a hard time, or Sylvester when Tweety Pie is being particularly annoying!!

And, of course, there are the fairy stories and no one gets a worse press than the poor old wolf!! So misunderstood!! 😁

He was just a poor old building inspector pointing out shoddy workmanship!!

And he knew Red Riding Hood had always wanted a pet!!

So, who are your favourite heroes and villains in any books, films or cartoons?
Do you sometimes cheer for the “wrong” side?
Please share anything to do with Star Wars or other heroes and villains from whatever source.

All are welcome.
