It's Black Cat Awareness Month
There are so many stupid superstitions about these beautiful cats. If one crosses your path, it's going somewhere at the same time as you are, it is not going to bring you bad luck. In fact, give it a stroke or some treats and it will love you forever.
October is Black Cat Awareness Month, trying to make people realise that black cats are not bad luck, or even evil, but are beautiful loving cats the same as any other ones. I have always had at least one black cat, and at the moment have 2. They are so full of character and fun, in fact, give me a doctored Tom any day and I have the perfect cat.
In ancient Egyptian times, black cats were viewed as divine creatures in which the Gods lived. The Irish would think that if they found a black cat on their porch, it was good luck, and the Japanese hold black cats in high esteem as symbols of prosperity.
So next time you are thinking of adopting a cat, adopt a black one. There are plenty in shelters cos ignorant people think they are bad luck and they are the hardest to rehome. Those people don't know what they are missing. They are the same as any other cat, loving, full of mischief and fun. So please don't discriminate cos they are black, they deserve a forever home same as any animal.
Are you lucky enough to own a black cat, or have had one? If so, tell us about him/her and any pics you may have.
All are welcome.
And please feel free to share all discussions you enjoy.
