It's Emoji Day
Everybody uses emojis nowadays, some more than others. They are great to use in an email, text, or post on a thread. It lets people know what you are thinking and feeling.
You can certainly have some fun with them!
Today was invented to celebrate these great little faces. Whether smiling, crying or love, you can say so much by using them. There are so many different ones around to use as well.
Emojis first came about in the 1990s in Japan and were introduced to the rest of the world in 2000, later becoming the familiar part of our mobile phones via Apple in 2011.
A lot of people use emojis and emoticons interchangeably, but they aren't the same. Emoticons are created from keyboard characters :-) and emojis are images - jpg, png or gif.
In 2015, the Oxford Dictionary word of the year was Emoji!
To have some fun today, why not text your friends and use only emojis. It could be fun having a conversation without words. There is a quiz on television which we tend to watch when we are eating and one of the rounds is somebody does a clue for a book, famous person, film etc. in emoji and the rest of the team have to guess, the question is offered to the partner of the person who has done the emojis first but then is passed to all. It's great fun and not as easy as you would think.
Anyway, today use as many emojis as you can in anything you post, text or tweet, or even email. Just have some fun with these great little creatures who bring a lot of fun to our lives.
All are welcome.
And please feel free to share all discussions you enjoy.
