It's Happy Hour at The Corner Café

Well, we are all familiar with Happy Hour and we have all taken advantage of it at some stage, I'm sure.

Do we know how it came about though?
It is a bit difficult to trace back, but it goes back a long way - right back to Henry V where Shakespeare states "Therefore, my lords, omit no happy hour that may be furtherance to our expedition.”

It can more specifically be traced back to 1913 and came from the USA Navy and was used after WW1 to refer to all times of indulgence, such as smoking, wrestling, music and dancing, among other forms of entertainment. It is however regarded as the time spent drinking at a Speakeasy before going to restaurants who could not serve alcohol.

Let’s celebrate it in a great way, go to your favourite establishment, which at the moment has to be The Corner Cafe!! and enjoy what’s on offer in the way of drinks, food etc. If you don't want to join in, then have a happy hour at home with a glass of something, some music, or a good film and a bit of food.

Out of my way, I have an urgent appointment!

Happy hour is what you make it, and doesn't have to revolve round going to a pub.
So, enjoy a Happy Hour today and every day. It will do you the world of good!
And don’t forget to join in all the fun of Happy Hour here later on!

All are welcome. And please feel free to share all discussions you enjoy.
