Junk Food Day at The Corner Café

We all eat junk food of some description at some time, and all eat it in varying amounts. Mine is once a week and that is done in the oven and not fried.

Junk food is used to refer to food very high in calories and with little or no nutritional value at all. It was popular in the US in the 1950s and now incorporates all heavily processed foods and those that have high quantities of sugar, fat, and salt.

I am not saying anything, but look what eating Jaffa cakes, custard tarts and wine gums can do 😁

Eating it once in a while has no adverse effect and is enjoyable but once you start eating it regularly you are on a very slippery slope, with weight and subsequently your health. It can lead to diabetes, obesity and heart probs to name a few.

Different cultures have different ideas of junk food, and what can be considered junk in one culture may be considered good in another. Even some kinds of fast food are prepared in a healthy way and can be good for you.

I don't know if any of you have seen the film “Supersize Me”, but that is very worrying, and will make you want to eat proper, healthy cooked, nutritional food and not something quick and easy.

We can celebrate today by eating junk for all your meals, maybe several slices of bacon and a few eggs, black pud, mushrooms etc.
OMG I feel ill at the thought of it!!

Chip butties for lunch, or something like fried egg on toast.

Maybe a burger for tea and more chips.

Not forgetting the snacks, of biscuits, cakes and watch your drinks as well, Some coffees are very high in fat etc. especially those made with a lot of milk.

Anyway, you could be different and eat properly for the whole day instead, which is much more sensible but less fun.

Whatever you choose to do, junk food-wise, make it a one-off, cos if you eat like that every day you will regret it. Make it a treat, and a treat is something you have on the odd time, not every day.

Let’s have your thoughts on junk food.
Do you eat it, hate it, or love it?

All are welcome.
And please feel free to share all discussions you enjoy.
