St. Swithin's Day

Well, today is St. Swithin's Day and again, it’s with a difference. We all know about St. Swithin's Day and the sayings associated with it, so today we are going to take a look at the weather throughout the year.

There are certain weathers that are popular and others aren't quite so.

Snow.
Most people love snow when it's freshly fallen but not so much as it melts and turns to slush. Out in the country, it is wonderful you can look over the fields and just see pure white virgin snow where nobody has walked. It's great fun to be the first to wade through it. Don't forget the great fun to be had playing in with, snowball fights, building snowmen and generally having fun.

Rain.
Not quite so popular, although very much needed. A heavy shower of rain does the garden no good at all, but a nice steady rain is better than anything we can do. Kids love to play in the puddles from the rain and splash about.

Hail and Thunder Storms.
Not good for man nor beast. Thunderstorms are often wonderful to watch, but they scare me a bit. I think it's the sheer power in them. When I was a child, I was told it was God delivering coal! A lot of animals are frightened of them as well.

Cloud.
A cloudy day is sometimes welcome after a bit of a heatwave but generally, they are depressing days especially in the winter.

Sun.
Now, we all love a nice sunny day, but how hot we like it varies from person to person. Taff would say it can't be too hot. Kieran and I say he is mental and that anything over about 75 degrees is uncomfortable. Animals generally hate the heat as well. The worse thing about a hot day is when you get those muggy sticky nights where you can't sleep so you are a walking zombie the next day.

Wind.
We get gales over here but nothing like Tornados or anything nasty like that. The best sort of wind is a cooling breeze which keeps the temperature down to not be uncomfortable. Or a nice sea breeze if you are at the beach.

Well, nobody can predict if it will rain today or not, but one thing is sure, we will have some sort of weather for which really we should be grateful for cos it is all there for a purpose.

What do you think of the weather in the Country you live in, or would you prefer to live somewhere really hot and know exactly what time of day it will rain and what time it will stop?
Give us your thoughts and views, or have you ever lived abroad and did you enjoy the weather there.

All are welcome.
And please feel free to share all discussions you enjoy.
