Street Art
Street art encompasses several styles. From the Banksy-style graffiti on walls and bridges to plain chalk pavement drawings . . .
And some amazing 3-D art drawn on pavements . . .
And also on walls and the sides of buildings.
Street art is a very old form of art. It can be traced right back to medieval times in Britain when the subjects were typically commentary on politics or morality for a population who largely could not read or write.
These artists were known as screevers and their art, screeving.
Mainly using semi-permanent chalk-based paint, street artists create stunning 3-D artworks using a wall or pavement as their canvas.
The more elaborate 3-D pavement art is designed to be viewed from a particular point to get the right perspective.
If viewed from any other angle, most look plain weird!!
And pavement art can be successfully recreated indoors as well.
There are so many fabulous examples out there, so let’s spend today sharing some of these incredible artworks, as well as anything to do with art in general.
All are welcome.
