Superstitions True or False
Are you superstitious? Do you avoid walking under ladders or take to your bed on Friday 13th? I have to say, I am not in the least bit superstitious, and if I want to open a brolly indoors, I will do so.
Ok, let’s have a look at some of the more well known superstitions:
Spilling salt is supposed to be unlucky and if you do you must throw it over your shoulder to counteract the bad luck.
Finding a 4 leaf clover is supposed to be lucky.
A horseshoe over the door used to be quite common but you don't see it so much nowadays. It’s a symbol of good luck they say, but it needs to be the right way up or if not your luck runs out. I have yet to find out which is the correct way though !!
This is said to bring 7 years bad luck !! This superstition is said to have started in ancient times when mirrors were considered to be tools of the gods.
It’s unlucky to open an umbrella indoors.
Unlucky to walk under a ladder, yes I go along with that! I did years ago and there were men working overhead and a hammer fell and hit me on the side of the head !!
They are not unlucky at all, and have more character than most cats,

Oh yes, good old Friday 13th, so many superstitions around this.
The number 13 is supposed to be unlucky, as is Friday 13th and all that Black Cat stupidity, and its cos of that that black cats are the hardest to rehome. But they are wonderful animals, always full of character. You should never have 13 in a gathering or at a table.

There are a lot more superstitions around, but I have covered some of the more well-known ones. There are still the wedding ones - something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue, and a Groom should carry his Bride over the threshold.
