The Music of the Sixties
The music of the Sixties, there was nothing like it and never will be again. It was a classic time for music, loads of young groups popping up, some with one hit wonders, and some still around today, which is more than can be said for the modern rubbish they call music now. Very few can sing and the groups are terrible and certainly won’t be around or even remembered in fifty odd years time.
Some of the groups are still going strong today and touring, shows the power of their music. Most of the kids today love the 60's music and a lot of comments on YouTube from them are, “I wish I had lived through it, it's much better than today's stuff.”
At the beginning of the '60s were the real big artists like Elvis and Cliff, who started back in the late '50s, and Chubby Checker but there were new groups popping up all the time, the most famous of which were The Beatles. Among the top groups were The Rolling Stones, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Herman's Hermits and of course people like Cilla Black and Helen Shapiro to name but a few.
There were duos like Simon and Garfunkel, the Everly Brothers, and super groups like Cream. The choice of music was endless and is still played today even on the radio.
Most of us were alive and enjoyed the 60's but for those that weren't you missed the best but fortunately, it lives on. Sadly, we are losing some of the artists from that era now, but their music lives forever.
Who is your favourite 60's artist/group?
Post some of their music, tell us your memories of those exciting years and let’s take a trip down memory lane!!
All are welcome.
