Train Time at The Corner Café

Hi and welcome aboard to our train themed thread.

Trains have changed a lot over the years, but not always for the better, I don’t think. If you compare the pics of the old and modern, the modern lack any sort of character. Trains are close to most people’s hearts and i bet some of you men have got train sets set up and play with them!!

Anyway grab your ticket and step aboard which ever train takes your fancy and enjoy the ride.

The Flying Scotsman is an express passenger service that has operated between Edinburgh and London, the capitals of Scotland and England, via the East Coast Main Line. The service began in 1862 and the name was officially adopted in 1924. It is currently operated by London North Eastern Railway.

These modern trains may be quick, but personally, I think they lack character.

You can't beat the good old fashioned steam train of our youth. I remember going from London to Wales in one of these many times and standing out in the corridor with the window open and no health and safety in those days.

The Jacobite, the steam-driven train that was used in the Harry Potter films

The famous Orient Express, which travels between London and Istanbul, made even more famous by the author Agatha Christie, who had her great sleuth creation, Hercule Poirot, untangle a very elaborate murder on that train.

There is no obligation to follow any of our informal themes. They are simply for fun. This is an open topic chat thread, so please just post or talk about anything you like!
