Welcome To Garfield Day
Today is Garfield Day and it was on this date in 1978 the first edition of Garfield was released. So today is the day we celebrate the funny and lazy feline and the fun he provides to us all!
He hates Mondays and loves food, his favourite being lasagne. He hates diets and getting up early and when he does eventually get up, he has to have his coffee.
We all know Garfield, who hates Mondays and loves and lives for food, therefore it’s only fair that we have a day to celebrate this entertaining cartoon feline.
He is from the comic strip Garfield created by Jim Davies and named after the writer's grandfather. The comic strip was set in Muncie, Indiana, and it has a population of about 70,000.
Apparently, Jim Davies has taken all the human things we don't like to discuss and put them into our ginger friend.
Garfield is recognised all over the world.
There are publications of Garfield in about 3000 newspapers, mags, and online. He holds the Guinness World record for being the most widely syndicated comic strip. It has been translated into 7 languages. The book Garfield At Large made the New York Times bestseller list for 2 years.
Well, to celebrate today we could dress up as Garfield, or even dress up at work, but none of us really work, so that wouldn't work, but could be fun. You could donate to a local cat charity and that would make it a great event.
The other way which would be fun is to watch the original films eating lasagne and drinking coffee.
However you spend it, make it a fun day for such an entertaining ginger feline.
All are welcome.
And please feel free to share all discussions you enjoy.
