Welcome To The Summer Solstice
The Summer Solstice is also known as Litha and it heralds the first day of summer. It falls on or near 21st June each year. This year, in the UK, it is on 20th June.
What it means to us in the northern hemisphere is nice long days and light evenings, and hopefully some lovely weather and evenings in the garden for a BBQ.
At this time, the sun reaches its northern most latitude and at noon, is highest in the sky and we have the longest day.
After this, it goes lower and lower in the sky each day, and reaches a point again where it’s there for exactly 12 hours and this heralds the Autumn Equinox.
So, today, enjoy all of those lovely extra minutes with hopefully some nice sunshine to go along with it.
All are welcome. And please feel free to recommend and share all discussions you enjoy.
