Autumn at The Corner Cafe
Autumn, also known as fall in America and Canada, is one of the four temperate seasons and marks the transition from summer to winter, in September or March, depending on which hemisphere you are in. It is when the length of daylight becomes shorter and the temperatures by day and night start to decrease.
In 2019, this change occurs on Monday, September 23rd, the date of the Autumn Equinox, when day and night are of equal length.
Well, we can say goodbye to summer now, what we have had of it and accept the fact that it’s autumn. Not my favourite season at all. People say beautiful colours, which there are, but to me, it’s a sign of things dying off.
What you do get this time of year is some lovely night skies, though, so every cloud has a silver lining as they say!!
Ok the seasons come and go, so all we can do is enjoy them and look forward to our favourite time of year whatever that may be.
Autumn is a good time to go and find some wild mushrooms, but make sure you know what you are doing when picking them. We get some nice shaggy inkcaps round here which are delicious fresh from the track and fried in butter. Need to be picked before opening though
Cats and dogs love autumn, great fun for chasing leaves and running through them.
