Tea -v- Coffee
Tea was introduced to Britain in the 17th century by a company called East India Company but was very expensive and for the rich only.
Tea is traditionally brewed in a warmed china tea pot, one spoonful per person and don’t forget one for the pot. Most people like it dark and strong but with a lot of milk.
Years ago, the milk was added first to the china cup to avoid cracking it.
How to make the perfect cuppa.
Boil the kettle and put a small amount in the teapot to warm it and then discard.
Add one spoonful of tea per person and one for the pot
Pour boiling water onto the tea and leave for a few mins.
Serve and enjoy.
We are supposed to be a nation of tea drinkers, but are we? Whats your choice of drink between them?
There are no end of different brands of tea - loose or tea bags, fruit teas, healthy teas, etc. - and a lot more choice of coffee - beans, ground, instant, you name it. You can also get decaf tea or coffee, but it’s not that widely available.
Coffee has now become as popular as tea, and in fact there are probably more different ones to choose from. I personally think that coffee is coffee, not latte, or with marshmallows or anything else they seem to put in it now. Coffee should be made from freshly ground beans, placed in a cafetiere and hot (not boiling )water added. It should be drunk black but with brown sugar added if required
There are also numerous electric coffee machines on the market, some of which are good and others not so. I personally have a Tassimo machine which I am told does good coffee!!
