Toys and Games at The Corner Café

Toys and Games at The Corner Café

A toy is something we have all played with in one way or another, be they dolls, cars, trains, etc. etc.  plus all the toddler toys we had.  There are several kinds of toys, toddler up to school age toys, children’s toys, young adult toys and adult toys!

Playing with toys is important when we are growing up and learning. and educational toys are essential for very young children. We all had our favourite toys,. I still have my teddy bear that I was given when I was one. He is much the worse for wear and I keep meaning to put the broken arm back on him. And I have my dolls house which my Dad made me one Christmas and most of the furniture.

The roof had a flap at the back, which took a battery, and there are little switches in each room to put the lights on.

We had some great toys when young, and although we weren’t rich by any means, and a lot of my toys were home made, we played, which is something the kids today don’t seem to do. If you had a big family, you probably played a lot of board games. I was the only one so missed out on that, but did play cards quite a bit, and i grew up with a quarter-size snooker table, so that was a great toy!!

Ok, we are now going to have a trip down memory lane, and I know most of us will remember these toys, and please note the prices where applicable !!

We can’t have a toy thread without what must be probably one of the best selling toys ever from the very first film way back and it’s still on sale now. It isn’t ever going to go away. When we moved here nearly 30 years ago, we had a room devoted to Star Wars memorabilia, and boy did it fetch good money. We did sell Taff’s collection ages ago, but it was great fun to collect. I personally think the first three films were by far the best.

Ok, i hope you have enjoyed your trip down memory lane, and please tell us about your favourite toy, as I know there are a lot missing and let us have some pics of them.
