Welcome To Dentist Day
Ok it's dentist day, and before you all scream, we are going to look at the funny side of going to the dentist, and yes there is one. I love my dentist, good bedside manner, good dentist, and takes the mickey out of me. He has never caused me any pain and even with root canal treatment we had a laugh and he made it very bearable.
Most people don’t like the dentist, but that is usually down to some bad experience.
When I was a child our dentist was called Pulley, and it was in the days when they used gas, and I fought it tooth and nail, so even the thought of the sweets after the treatment which he gave out to kids, didn’t make me a fan of going. That has stayed with me, and my current dentist is the only one I have ever really trusted and don't mind visiting.
If we didn't go to the dentist though all the sweet stuff we eat would spoil our nice pearly teeth so today we owe our dentist a big dose of gratitude really cos without him our teeth would not be still in our mouths!
Nobody knows where the day came from, but it's a good day to maybe phone up for that long-overdue check-up cos that will stop problems in the future and will ensure that we maintain a happy smile. If you worry it will hurt, just think back to the old days. Dentistry goes back as far as 7000BC when they helped people then with toothache and cavities, but the treatment was nothing like today. A tooth pulled out without any anaesthetic! Ouch!
We all know we need to clean and floss our teeth regularly, but do we do it properly. Only your dentist will tell you that !!
Ok, please tell us about your experiences at your dentist, past or present. Do you love him or hate him? Do you go private or NHS? And do you go regularly?
A big thank you to Kieran for the main pic.
All are welcome.
And please feel free to share all discussions you enjoy.
