The pretty little Blue Tit who refuses to use the nest boxes we put up. I think it’s because round here they have endless places to nest.

We all have a garden and no doubt you get visitors of the feathered kind especially if you put food out for them. They come to rely on it.

Once you start to feed the birds, you should always feed them as they will come and wait for it each morning.  They bring a garden alive and they do repay you by waking you with a song at day break !!

There are a lot of different garden birds, but here are a few pics of just some of what we get in our garden, as will some of you.

Great spotted Woodpecker and I’m pretty sure we have at least two of them.

Very cute and very clever!! Even squirrel proof feeders are sometimes well within their ability.

No garden is complete without the tame little Robin.

We spoil them with peanuts, niger seed, fat balls, seed, and plenty of a special mix which contains, sunflower seeds, kibble, suet pellets and seed and not sure what else !!  They love it, and it gets fed by the bucketful.

There are all sorts of bird feeders you can get, but to be honest the experts say a bog standard feeder is best and the same with a bird table. Anything with a roof over can be a death trap cos the birds can’t spot any predators around while eating nor can they fly off easily if needs be.

Also always have plenty of water around for them, and they do like a good splash about in a bird bath.

We must have about a 100 of these happy little chaps flying around all day and twittering. We shout “shut up” to them quite frequently.

A regular visitor called Henry, but he has never brought the young to visit.

We get pied wagtails; a sparrowhawk which flies through, and used to roost on the beam outside our bedroom; tits of all varieties, including long tailed ones which come and go; woodpeckers; a jay at the odd time; wrens; French partridge; magpies; crows; doves; and the odd pigeon. And round about, we get the odd barn owl and the odd cuckoo, not that I have ever seen him but I do wait to hear his song in June. We used to get swallows nesting but not had any for about 3 years now.

Do you feed the birds?
If so, what feathered friends do you get in your garden?
Please share any pics, etc. you have of them.
