May The Fourth Be With You
"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...."
I doubt there are any of us that don't know those lines or the films it comes from.
Well, today is Star Wars Day, so:
This was started in 2011, but not by Geoge Lucas, but has been recognised by Lucasfilms, and it has become so popular that they are trying to make 5th May "The Revenge of the Fifth! A play on words for one of the newer films.
I am personally not a fan of the newer films. I love the first 3, or should I say the first 3 to come out !!
Here are a few facts about Star Wars.
A lot of the buildings used in shots are still standing in Tunisia and some are used by locals.
Commemorative Star Wars coins were used as legal tender on the island of Niue in 2011 and I presume still are.
10 puppeteers using both hands were used to operate Jabba the Hutt.
The rubbish in the Death Star garbage compactor was real, and Mark Hamill burst a blood vessel cos he tried to hold his breath. The camera angle had to be altered for the rest of the scene so as not to show his injury and Chewbacca’s suit stunk for the rest of the production.
The voice for Yoda was Frank Oz, who did the voice for Miss Piggy, and Yoda in the prequels was almost a real life monkey wearing a green mask until somebody said “Come on, he will pull the mask off!”. So Yoda became Yoda as we know him.
Well, that’s a lot of the main characters, now how many of the ships do you know? The Millennium Falcon is obviously the most well known and is the main pic.
I know there are a lot more ships and characters to be covered so hopefully, you will all post some of your favourites. And Happy Star Wars Day!!
